Mommy's Note: it's been a battle but we agree that I (Jan) am Alpha Dog and what I say goes (at least after the 3rd command). Shasta is Important Dog and can do whatever Alpha Dog has not yet commanded or forbidden. (That takes in a LOT of territory.) Frank is the Lord High Pooh Bah, what he says is mostly 'bark' but when he means it, it is the LAW. Shasta has completed two Puppy Training courses with good marks, and in November will go into Adult training. She learns easily and well, sometimes too well. She has figured out that if she obeys immediately she gets a treat, but if she fumbles she may get 3 - 4 treats before the command is completed satisfactorily. So now we give treats only occasionally, and often Shasta looks at me as if to say "OK, but what's in it for me?"
