What is LaFetra.com E-mail?

LaFetra.com E-mail is Internet e-mail that uses the LaFetra.com domain.  It is the only way to get an e-mail address of yourname@lafetra.com.   If you are a LaFetra, this is pretty cool because bob@lafetra.com is easier for others to remember than, say bob568@worldnet.att.net.

Do I have to be a "LaFetra" to become a member?

Yes, although all LaFetras are welcome, including LaFetras-by-marriage and geneolgical LaFetras that have other surnames.

Who is behind LaFetra.com E-mail?

We registered the LaFetra.com domain so that we could offer LaFetra.com E-mail to our immediate family.  The idea seemed like one we should share, so we have.   LaFetra.com E-mail is purely a labor of love, so we are all keeping our day jobs.

How much does it cost?

LaFetra.com E-mail is $2.50 per month per account--our cost.  As more people become members, the cost will fall further.  So, tell your family and relatives.

Can I use LaFetra.com E-mail with other E-mail accounts?

Absolutely.  You can either configure a standard POP mail client such as Outlook, Eudora, or Netscape Mail to check  your LaFetra.com E-mail account along with other accounts or you can have either your existing account or your LaFetra.com E-mail account forwarded to the other account.

How do I access e-mail sent to my current e-mail address after I sign up?

You have several options.  (1) with many ISPs you can have all your mail forwarded to another e-mail account, in this case your LaFetra.com E-mail account;  (2) you can have all your LaFetra.com e-mail forwarded to your current e-mail account; or (3) many e-mail clients such as Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express and Eudora allow you to support multiple e-mail accounts.

How do I configure my e-mail client to work with LaFetra.com E-mail?

Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express
1.    Select Tools, Accounts, Add, Mail
2.    Using the following settings when prompted by the setup wizard:
        E-mail Address: <yourname>@lafetra.com
        Incoming mail server type: POP3
        Incoming mail server: mail.lafetra.com
        Outgoing mail server: check with your ISP or use 208.233.88.55

Eudora
1.    Select Tools, Options, Personalities
2.    Select New
3.    Under traits, use the following settings
POP account: <yourname>@lafetra.com
Default domain: leave blank
SMTP server: check with your ISP or use 208.233.88.55
4.    You may need to enter the following information under Tools, Options, Hosts
        POP account: <yourname>@lafetra.com
        SMTP:  check with your ISP or use 208.233.88.55

Always configure your mail client to delete messages from the server once you download them.  There is no reason to store messages on the mail server if you have downloaded a copy to your computer.

Will my mail messages be private?

Yes.  Once you change your password, only you will be able to access your LaFetra.com E-mail account.
