"Great Lady"

Great lady, please join me in this land of my own,
A secret 'till now, the air smells of riches,
of glistening gems,
And tastes oh so sweet, a certain delight,
The jewels dissolving on my tongue,
The sight and the sound, a harmonious parade
of sapphire space and a bright pearl-strewn haze,
Great rising peaks of emerald and copper,
The chatter of birds, the ebony bass,
Fit for a queen, my kingdom of dreams,
Won't you join me, oh sister of mine?

"My Sister's Footsteps"

there's something
I cherish
in my sister's footsteps.

their laughter
as they parade through
life.

"The Hills Out Back"

There's something
I love
in your hills out back.

their whistling
when the autumn wind
blows.

"I Stride Forth to Embrace Life"

I stride forth to embrace life.
I stride forth as the evergreen, powerful and strong.
I stride forth as the brook, spirited and cheerful.
I stride forth as the eagle, vigorous and free.
I stride forth to embrace life
with strength, spirit, and freedom.

"Enlightened"

I am enlightened
Not dash to the church and pledge myself as a nun, enlightened
Not all the knowledge in the world is mine, enlightened
Not even puzzle pieces of homework falling into place, enlightened
But just life is good, enlightened
The fears of the night dissipate in the light of a new day, enlightened
Willpower can conquer everything, enlightened
I don't need to be loved by everyone to live my life to its fullest, enlightened.
Simply, learning that I am glad to be me, enlightened.

"Lucky"

I am lucky
Not everyone adores me, lucky
Not I have a sweet date for the dance, lucky
Not even fate seems to be attracted my way, lucky
But just wake up in the morning alive, lucky
Wild hugs and kisses from my sister, lucky
Chilly raindrops avoid sliding down my back, lucky
Finding the brightest flowers in the field, lucky
Now I know what life is about, lucky.

"White"

White is a blank canvas,
Blazing with the potential for the
Fiery, radiant colors of life,
White is cold, frigid, the blindness of a child's pitiful weeping,
White is a breeze, fondly ruffling the snowy feathers of nature,
White is the spirit of a soft dove, a tender green sprig in her beak,
White is an angel's halo,
A medal of unselfish courage and goodwill
To be presented to all the world,
White wears a summer dress of dew, a winter coat spun from clouds' tears, and a nightgown of frost,
White speaks to you, in a quiet, musical voice,
"No color can live without me."

"Grey"

I can be evil, poisoning the sweet clarity of White,
I am the murky despair of an ominously cloudy night,
I am the drab pallet of shadows, the shadows Death himself paints in the dim graveyard each night to scare away unwelcome trespassers,
I am gloomy, the orphaned child who weeps silently each night in the wind,
I am the clouds that obscure the winking moon, driving her away from your window when you most need her,
But I am not only sorrowful, but light and airy too,
For I am the feathers of the dove, delivering peace on her wings,
And I am the warrior who forbids the arrival of Black, the coming of Night,
I am wise, hiding in the salt-and-pepper hair of the old woman to learn
All her secrets that she has hoarded through the centuries,
I am dusk, the theater where the stars perform their daring feats of
Dazzling flips and turns,
Here in my dwelling of corners and
Forgotten places,
I am grey.

"Please Forgive My Trespass"

When i stole
your life
away from you
many years ago

you were simply
living
you were simply
in my way

Please forgive me
my pleasure robbed
you of life
that guilt remains

"This is Just to Say"

I didn't clean
my desk yesterday
when you
told me to

instead i spent
my stolen time
behind my bed
reading

Forgive me
I visited dreamlands
vibrant with garnets
emeralds and sapphires
